State level Children Science Congress: 2011
On 25th November 2011
inaugural function was held at Mahatma Gandhi auditorium, Gulbarga
University, Gulbarga. Sri Girish B. Kadlewad, Treasurer, Karnataka
Rajya Vijnana Parishat The State Coordinator Shri M.N. Mustoorappa
were present during the programme.
The guest of honour was member of
parliament and Former Chief Minister of Karnataka Sri N. Dharam Singh
inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp.

Sri Amarnath Patil, President , Hyderabad Karnataka Development Board
and Dr. Harish Bhat, noted Scientist, Indian Institute of Science,

Brainstorming workshop to assess the quality of the book publication
brought out by Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat
The above said
programme was unique as the programme focused on the quality of the
books which were published and also new books which are to be
published by KRVP. Prof. Sreedhar, Director, Publication, Kerala
Shastra Sahitya Parishat, Sri A.R.Udupa, Navakarnataka Publication,
Sri Prakash Kambathalli, Sri T.A. Anantharamu, noted science writer,
Dr Vasundhara Bhupathi and Sri Shekhar Gowler participated in the
liberations. |

National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC): 2011
Initiation of NEAC:
2011 was initiated with pre-methodoglogy training workshop was being
held in all 30 districts of the state. The Southern level Regional
Resource Agency(RRA) meet was held at C.P.RamaswamI Environment
Education Centre from 17th-21st October 2011.
Southern states
comprising of Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Pondicherry, Goa, Andhrapradesh,
Maharashtra and Andaman and Nicobar had participated in the programme. |

Radio serial:
To highlight the contribution made by women science to
the cause of science Akashavani in association with Vigyan Prasar, New
Delhi and KRVP, Bengaluru has designed radio serial being aired on
11th September 2011, the programme is being transmitted from 9-30
to 10-00 am every Sunday. |

Science Writers meet
The programme was held at Kannada
University, Hampi from 3rd to 5th September 2011. Dr. A. Murigeppa,
Vice Chancellor, Kannada University inaugurated the programme. The
workshop was conducted under the leadership of eminent science fiction
writer Prof. Rajashekhara Bhoosnurmuth.
38 selected women writers participated
in the workshop. |

The above said programme were held in 10
Universities. The programme was initiated the programme which was held
on August 29, 2011at Bengaluru University. The programme was held
during the months of August and September.

days workshop to train science writers on Women strengthening
pertaining to Science and Technology
KRVP in association
with Vigyan Prasar, New Delhi, Akashavani, Bengaluru had conducted 2
days workshop on the above said topic. The programme was held at KRVP
Vijnana Bhavana on 19th and 20th August 2011.

science writers- Smt. G.V. Nirmala, Smt. Gayathri murthy, Smt. Kshama,
Dr. N.S. Leela, Dr. Y.C. Kamala, Dr. Vasundhara Bhupathi, Smt.
Sumangala Mummigatti and Sri A.S.K.V.S. Sharma took part in the
programme. |

Exhibition/Competition for degree students was held at K.C.P. Science
College, BLDEA College Campus, about 99 students and guide teachers

Pre-methodology training
workshop for the district coordinators of Children Science Congress :
2
days pre-methodology training workshop was held for the district
coordinators of Children Science Congress, the programme held at
Bapuji Polytechnic College, Davangere.
The programme was held for 2 days on 2nd and 3rd July 2011, eminent
science personalities guided the district coordinators for organizing
various scientific activities to come up with unique projects for the
State level CSC. Eminent science personalities Dr. M.N. Marigowdar,
Dr. T.L. Ramakrishna, Sri N.N. Marigowda and Dr. T.J. Renukaprasad
took part in the programme. The focal theme of Children Science
Congress is "Land Resources : Use for Prosperity Save for Posterity" |

State level Workshop on "International
Year of Forests and World Environment Day" was held at "Vanavijnana
Kendra", Jogimatti Reserved forest, Chitradurga.
Dr. Ramakrishna,
Retd. Director, Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata inaugurated the
event. Sri Srinivasalu, IFS, Forest Conservator, Karnataka
Forest department, Chitradurga, Sri Manjunath H. Deputy Director, DDPI,
Chitradurga, Sri R. Mallikarjunaiah, President, KRVP Jilla Samiti,
Chitradurga and Sri Challakere Yerriswamy, Programme Coordinator and
Dr. H.R. Swamy, Vice-President, KRVP were present during the function.

Scientist Direct Contact programme. This programme aims at inspiring
young minds and to create interest and excitement about basic science. Eminent scientists and leaders of science and technology interact with
students chosen from all the districts of the State.
Dr. V.S. Acharya,
Minister for Higher Education, Planning and Statistics Department,
Government of Karnataka will be inaugurating the event. Prof.C.N.R. Rao, FRS, President, JNCASR, Bengaluru will be the Chief
guest for the function. Dr. M. N. Vidyashankar, IAS, Principal
Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of
Karnataka, Smt. Rashmi V. Mahesh, IAS, Director, PU Board are Honorary
guests for the programme. Dr. D. Hemachandra Sagar, President,
Dayananda Sagar Educational Institutions and MLA would preside the
function. Dr. H.R. Swamy, Vice President, KRVP. Sri Girish B.
Kadlewad, Treasurer, KRVP will be participating as Honorary guests. The programme will be held for 2 days (22, 23 June 2011 at Dr. D.
Premachandra Sagar Auditorium, Dayananda Sagar College, Kumaraswamy
Layout, Bengaluru).

Mandya Jilla Samithi and Mandya JIlla Vijnana Vedike. The programme is to

Science Lecture Competition
State
level Inter University Popular Science Lecture Competition were held
on 4th and 5th March 2011 at Prof.M. A. Sethu Rao Auditorium, Vijnana
Bhavana, KRVP, Bengaluru. A total of 16 students - 2 from each
University for Biology and Physics who were the winners of University
level lecture Competition had participated in the state level
Interuniversity Lecture Competition.
On 4th
March 2011, the participants and the KRVP Coordinators who represent
various Universities of the State were taken to various research
institutes: - Soft matter research, National Tuberculosis Institute
and Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, Bengaluru.
On 5th
March 2011, all the 16 participants were made to recite on the topics
on biology and physics respectively and the winners list are mentioned

State level Science quiz Competition for highschool students
State
level Science quiz Competition for highschool students was organised
at Yavanika, Nrupathunga Road, Bengaluru. The programme was organised
in association with Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of
Karnataka and DSERT, Bengaluru. Two students from urban and rural
division from all 33 districts of the state along with their guide
teachers had participated in the programme ( 33 x 4 = 132 + 66 guide

level National Environment Awareness Pre-Campaign Workshop: 2010-11
was organised at Prof. M.A. Sethu Rao Auditorium, Vijnana Bhavana,
KRVP, Bengaluru. The programme was aimed to train the participants on
the activities which has to be taken up by the individual organisation. The focal theme is been recognised as "Biodiversity Conservation" . Sri K.S. Sugara, IFS, Member Secretary, Karnataka Biodiversity was the
Chief Guest for the function and Dr. H.S. Niranjana Aradhya,
President, KRVP presided over the programme. Eminent speakers : Dr. H.S. Niranjana Aradhya, Sri S. Sreedhar, Dr. H.K.S. Swamy and Sri
Girish B. Kadlewad spoke on different aspects on Biodiversity".

College, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru
Dr. C.R.
Chandrashekar, noted psychiatrist was Chief Guest during this
programme and Dr.S.P. Chudamani, Principal, BMS Womens College
presided over the function. The focal theme was "Gender Equity for
Peace and Prosperity"
2. JSS Academy of
Technical Education, Mylasandra, Bengaluru
The series of
lecture were conducted at JSSATE, Bengaluru. Dr. K.S. Rangappa,
Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, KSOU, Mysore was Chief Guest and Prof.
Mruthyunjaya V. Latte, Principal, JSSATE presided over the function.
3. RV Teachers
Training College, Jayanagar, Bengaluru
On the event of NSD
2011 a series of lecture were organised pertaining to International
Year of Chemistry and International Year of Forest. Dr. A.N. Yellappa
Reddy, Retd. Chief Conservator of Forest, Govt. of Karnataka
participated as Chief Guest and Dr. S. Bhaskar, Retd. Principal, RV
Teachers Training College presided over the function.
4. M.S. Ramaiah
Memorial Hospital
Celebrations of NSD
was held at M.S. Ramaigh Memorial Hospital for the medical students. Dr. Pruthvish, Head, Community Medicine, M.S. Ramaiah Hospital was the
Chief Guest during the function and Dr. Prakash C. Rao, Executive
Committee Member, KRVP presided over the function.

State level Yuva Vijnani Award 2009-10:
The programme was
held on 3-1-2011 at Haragobind Kharona Auditorium, Biotechnology
department, Gulbarga, the programme was organized by KRVP in
association with Gulbarga Jilla Samiti. Out of 6 selected students
both written and interview was conducted out of which 3 students were
chosen as young Scientists.

Electronics workshop
for selected high school teachers (Samprata programme)
Karnataka Rajya
Vijnana Parishat, Bengaluru, Public Instruction department, Davanagere
Science Centre in coordination with Bapuji Polytechnic College had
conducted 2 days State level 2nd Electronics workshop for selected
high school teachers. The programme was held on 29-30, January 2011
at Bapuji Polytechnic College, Davanagere. The programme was presided
by Shri.K.N.Veeresh, Principal, Bapuji Polytechnic College, Davanagere.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Y.Vrushabendhrappa,
Director, BIET Engg College, Davanagere. Shri. N.G.Guruprasad,
Public Instruction department, Govt of Karnataka Shri. M. N.
Mushturappa, Executive Committee member of KRVP also witnessed the
function.
Teachers from each
districts of the state participated in this two days workshop and 5
sets of basic electronic kits were given to their schools. Smt.
Pushpalatha Nadiga, HOD , Dept of Electronics, Bapuji Polytechnic
College, Davanagere, Shri. K.S.Sadananada , Smt. K.Nagarathna
and Shri. Syed Sami, Lecturer, Dept of Electronics, Gulbarga had
participated as key resource persons for the Electronics workshop.
